Which GoPro HERO12 Accessories Work With HERO13 Black? Media Mod, Protective Housing, Mounts, and Batteries

Moving from HERO12 Black to HERO13 Black does not mean replacing every accessory. Some major accessories carry over, while the battery system does not.

Media Mod: yes

GoPro states that HERO13 Black still fits the same Media Mod used with HERO12 Black.

Protective Housing: yes

GoPro also states that HERO13 Black fits the same Protective Housing used with HERO12 Black. GoPro’s current housing compatibility list includes HERO13, HERO12, HERO11, and HERO10 Black.

Traditional GoPro mounts: yes

HERO13 Black still has folding mounting fingers, and GoPro says they work with existing GoPro accessories.

1/4-20 tripods: now easier

HERO13 Black adds built-in 1/4-20 threads, so many standard camera tripods and supports can connect without a separate GoPro tripod adapter.

HERO12 batteries: no

This is the big break in compatibility. HERO13 Black uses a redesigned 1900mAh Enduro battery with a different connection. GoPro says the HERO13 battery is not compatible with older GoPros.

HERO12 battery charger: do not assume compatibility

Because the battery changed physically, GoPro sells a HERO13-specific dual charger for the new batteries.

HB-Series lens mods: HERO13-specific ecosystem

HERO13 Black introduced the HB-Series lens system, including Macro, Ultra Wide, ND, and Anamorphic options that the camera can auto-detect. Treat those as HERO13-generation lens accessories rather than assuming older lens mods behave the same way.
