GoPro says HERO13 Black needs a brand-name microSD card rated V30, UHS-3, or higher. The camera supports microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC cards with capacities up to 1TB.
Is V30 enough?
Yes. V30 is part of GoPro’s stated minimum requirement for HERO13 Black. A V30 card guarantees at least 30 MB/s sustained video writing.
Is U3 the same thing as V30?
They are different rating systems, but both describe minimum write performance. GoPro accepts either V30 or UHS Speed Class 3 as the relevant minimum rating.
Can you use a 1TB card?
Yes. GoPro currently lists support for capacities up to 1TB.
Do you need V60 or V90?
GoPro does not list V60 or V90 as a general HERO13 Black requirement. Faster cards can be useful for file transfers or other devices, but HERO13 Black’s published minimum is V30 or UHS-3.
Should you use any random V30 card?
GoPro recommends using a brand-name card and maintains a list of tested or recommended cards. Matching the speed label is important, but reliability matters too because action cameras can create long high-bitrate files in heat, cold, vibration, and motion.
